The Beauty of His Ways

Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?—Job 11:7 (NASB)
Although you can genuinely and personally know God, fully understanding Him is impossible. No matter how hard you try, you cannot fully comprehend His ways. Rather than exhaustively trying to solve life’s mysteries—trust Him! Trust that He knows the beginning and the end. He is leading you to a better life. Rejoice.
Omnipotent God, You are the Alpha and the Omega. I trust You know what is best for me.

Seek His Kingdom

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.—Mathew 6:33 (NIV)
On this first day of Lent, search your heart for anything distracting you from feeling the comfort of Jesus’ presence. Vow to use this time to enhance your relationship with God and cultivate a deep and abiding prayer life.
Heavenly Father, today, on Ash Wednesday, guide me to live by Your will. Protect me from temptation.

Build Up One Another

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.—Proverbs 17:17 (NIV)
Norman Vincent Peale said, “Give everyone a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.” When you encounter a person who gets on your nerves, instead of focusing on the negative, look for the good in them. Give them a smile. Be patient and understanding. Extend God’s love.
Heavenly Father, help me build up another with friendship.

The Abundance of the Heart

For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.—Matthew 12:34 (NIV)
Jesus said you can tell what is in a person’s heart by what they speak about. Reflect on your own words and what they reveal about your character. Do you spend time complaining, gossiping, boasting? Turn to better alternatives and instead choose encouraging, compassionate and kind words.
Heavenly Father, help me use words that reflect my heart.

Do the Right Thing

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”—Matthe w 7:13–14 (NIV)
You are faced with thousands of decisions every day. If you struggle to know what the right thing is, or to do the right thing when you might not want to, ask Jesus to guide your actions. He will help you keep on the less-traveled—but more rewarding—road that leads to glory and everlasting life.
Lord, You are my compass and companion, guiding me to become the best I can be.

Blessed by Winter’s Wait

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.—2 Peter 3:18 (NIV)
On these wintry days, despite the frozen surface of the ground, new growth is beginning to form. Just as nature often grows unnoticed, your spirit and faith unfold slowly, little by little and day by day. Take a moment and give thanks for winter’s pauses, which give you time to rest and reflect on your own spiritual growth.
God of Compassion, thank You for nurturing and shaping me with Your guidance and love.

Mend Your Mood

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.—Psalm 94:19 (NIV)
Every negative thought of fear, hopelessness or anger is an opportunity for you to turn to God. He is the Divine Comforter. Reach out to Him and call for His presence to draw you back. Feel His love.
Lord, center my heart on You. Fill me with Your peace.

Overcoming Barriers to Feeling God’s Love

He said, “Go and tell this people: ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’”—Isaiah 6:9 (NIV)
Have you ever felt like Isaiah, unworthy of God’s holiness? When Isaiah realized the error of his ways, a holy seraph placed a burning coal at Isaiah’s lips and gave him the gift of forgiveness. Take a moment and search your heart for any feelings of resentment or shame holding you back. Ask God for His forgiveness.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your compassion and for reminding me that as Your child, I am worthy of Your love and forgiveness.

A Special Place in His Kingdom

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish.”—Esther 4:14 (NIV)
God prepared Esther for her predestined moment to save His people, and God is at work in your life too. He has a particular purpose for you and has selected you to serve Him by being a loving person to those around you. He has handpicked you for the job in all the roles you fill in your life.
Lord, thank You for preparing a special place for me in Your kingdom.

Open Your Heart

Today, if only you would hear his voice, “Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah, as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness.”—Psalm 95:7–8 (NIV)
Open your heart to hear God’s voice. He often speaks through His Word. Turn to Scripture and take in His message, knowing that you are developing an intimate bond as He trains Your spirit to recognize and hear His instructions.
Dear God, I am in awe of how Your Word is alive, custom-made just for me, guiding me on my path.

Always the Same

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.—Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)
When your future is unknown and you are struggling with uncertainty, reflect on the truth that God is the same today and forever. Though the world can change daily, His strength and power are an unchangeable and robust force—always loving and gracious in our uncertain world.
Lord, thank You for being the One I can count on, no matter what is happening around me.

Uniquely Blessed

Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.—Matthe w 5:48 (NIV)
You are perfect, exactly as you are right now. You don’t need to accomplish anything or prove your worth. You are not being judged and graded by God. You have been blessed with unique gifts and talents and are now learning life lessons.
Lord, when I am hard on myself—judging myself against an ideal version—guide me back to this beautiful truth. I am right where I am supposed to be.
