The Greatest Value

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.—1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)

LOVE IS THE greatest value in life. Stop for a moment and truly take this truth into your mind, body and spirit. Live with love in your heart. Do everything you can to help human sorrow. Loving others will make you spiritually victorious—able to rise above all difficulty. Fear will be crowded out of your life and replaced with love.

Dear Lord, today on Valentine’s Day, continue to let me feel Your comforting love in my life—and guide me to extend Your pure and beautiful love onto others.

Break Down Barriers to Prayer

I have tried hard to find you—don’t let me wander from your commands.—Psalm 119:10 (NLT)

SOMETIMES WE PLACE roadblocks on our prayer journey. We make excuses about being too busy, too tired and too distracted but the truth is all of these things can be a springboard to prayer. Whatever is stopping you from spending more time on your faith, reach out to God and ask for His help.

Heavenly Father, give me the grace to change and help me to remember what an amazing gift it is to spend time with You.

The Best Advice

But Rehoboam rejected the advice the elders gave him and consulted the young men who had grown up with him and were serving him.—1 Kings 12:8 (NIV)

GOD GAVE US His Spirit to nudge us in ways we can’t always explain—a gut feeling, a phone call at exactly the right time, an email subject line that speaks directly to our problem. When we immerse ourselves in the Word of God, we grow more connected to Him and it becomes easier to know when He is leading us.

Heavenly Father, You always speak to me when I need guidance. You are the best counsel I can have.

Resolve Conflicts

Good sense makes a man slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense.—Proverbs 19:11 (ESV)

DR. NORMAN VINCENT Peale said that when anger surges inside you, remind yourself that getting mad will get you nowhere except into trouble. He advised that you talk yourself into being sensible. Slow down your anger and rise above provocation. Build up a habit of becoming “slow to anger” (James 1:19) by letting faith guide your thinking.

Dear Lord, help me resolve differences with love and compassion and always work towards peace and harmony.

Complete Trust and Faith

I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.—John 14:27 (NLT)

TRUSTING JESUS COMPLETELY and obeying Him consistently is a lifelong process. As you enjoy His gift of peace more often, you are more able to live in the present and depend on Him to comfort and encourage you through the His Word and prayer.

Heavenly Father, because of You, no matter what’s going on around me I am calm. Your peace lives deep inside my heart.

See Everyday Miracles

For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.—Matthew 13:15-16 (ESV)

JUST BECAUSE YOUR eyes are open doesn’t mean that you can see. You must open your awareness to see God in the everyday blessings that are often overlooked. All good things are made from the Lord. Today slow down and take notice of the many ways He shines His light on your life.

Heavenly Father, today I will keep my eyes open and see the many ways You bless me.

Today, Tomorrow and Always

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath.— Hebrews 6:17 6:17 (ESV)

GOD’S NATURE IS unchangeable. His offer of grace and salvation is always available to us. Rest in the glorious comfort that no matter where you are or what you are up against, you can ask God to help you. His promises endure forever.

Heavenly Father, Your infinite generosity, Your beautiful promises will see me through tough times.

Discover Deeper Truths

For to the snow he says, “Fall on the earth,”—Job 37:6 (ESV)

THIS TIME OF year, the bare trees and snow-plowed roads can bring on a solemn and lonely feeling. But if you take the time to look deeper you’ll see the cardinals and the glorious pattern of animals prints in the snow. Sometimes winter’s starkness allows a better view of the beauty you would otherwise miss.

Heavenly Father, You created seasons for a purpose. Winter is a time to rest in You, to grow our faith and discover deeper and meaningful truths.

The Peace of His Presence

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.—Isaiah 41:13 (NIV)

IT IS HUMAN nature to be afraid when your future seems unsure and your problems weigh on your mind. Be assured that God knows your path and will help you through any problems you encounter. Instead of focusing on your fear, turn to your faith. Know that “He helps us in the most unexpected ways. He cares for us and saves us when we are low.” (Psalm 136-23)

Lord Jesus, help me to feel the peace of Your presence.

God’s Medicine

Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.—Luke 8:43–44 (NKJV)

THE WOMAN IN the above verse had tried every treatment and still was not healed. When earthly wisdom and cures disappoint us, there is always hope. If there is something in your life that needs healing—problems, a sickness, a memory—reach out to Jesus and ask for His help.

Heavenly Father, I love You and praise You.

Be Spiritually Fit

have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.—2 Timothy 4:7 (NIV)

THIS TIME OF year many people focus on being physically fit, but it’s even more important to be spiritually fit. To become spiritually strong, you must be determined to be faithful. Spending time each day reading the Bible will make you stronger as you run the race of life.

Heavenly Father, on days when I feel too tired or busy to spend time with You, guide me to do it anyway.

Don’t Give Up on God

I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.—Psalm 27:13 (NIV)

WE’VE ALL BEEN there…a persistent prayer that aches at your heart and seems to go unanswered. Take heart, don’t give up. Though it’s hard to have patience, know you’ll never regret waiting on Him. When it may look as if God is doing nothing, He is busily at work behind the scenes.

Dear Lord, give me patience to wait for Your answer.
