Dear Lord,
On this glorious day
of colorful parades,
family cookouts,
dazzling fireworks displays,
Let us not forget
The reason for it all.

Over two hundred years ago
When our forefathers hammered out
Their Declaration of Independence
They acknowledged their need
For Your help and guidance.

And so, Lord,
On this glorious day,
In the midst of the fun and frolic,
Help us to remember
Our independence from tyranny
Is based on our Dependence
On You.
