God’s Strength

Be my strong refuge, to which I may resort continually; You have given the commandment to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress.—PSALM 71:3 NKJV

Caregiving requires so much strength. Physical, emotional, and spiritual exertion can make us feel weak. We need stamina to face another doctor’s appointment, cook another meal, give another bath, control our tempers, or tend to the sudden emergencies that pop up.

Where do we seek the strength we need? From an energy bar? A jolt of caffeine? A quick nap? Those things might supply energy, but energy is not strength. The strength we need is found in God alone.

God’s strength is never generic. He knows where we hurt and what lies ahead for us, and the strength He provides matches up to our very personal needs.

When we wearily step out of bed, God is there to supply the physical strength we need to get us through the day. When bitter words are about to escape our mouths, He supplies the spiritual strength to stop and consider what we’re about to say. When our feelings are raw, He gives the emotional strength to avoid weariness and hopelessness.

Let’s go to God in our weakness and exchange it for His mighty strength. His strength has no end!

Gracious Father, You know how weak I can become. Thank You for supplying me with the strength to face all that will happen each day.
